Fort Worth Star Telegram - "10 Shower Gifts As Useful As They Are Cute"
August 20, 2007
Some pregnant women start thinking about their gift registry soon after they see the two pink lines on the home pregnancy test. It's just so much fun creating your wish list of baby gear. (Also, it helps take your mind off morning sickness and swollen ankles.) Bedding sets in adorable themes, wipe warmers and baby cleansing products, humidifiers, sleep positioners, Boppies and Bumbos ... with so much merchandise out there, how do parents-to-be decide what they need? And how do well-meaning friends and relatives choose the perfect baby shower gifts? As a BTDT (been there, done that) mom expecting my second baby, I found it a lot easier this time to cull through the ideas and to figure out what is cute but ultimately useless versus what would definitely get placed into service in the nursery. I've come up with 10 gift ideas, most of them new to the marketplace, that aren't the same-old, same-old. (Because, really, how many receiving blankets and onesies can one little baby go through?) And don't worry, I haven't left Dad out -- he deserves some thoughtful gifts, too.

Celebrity Baby Blog Reviews - “Hotslings: Carry your baby in style”
October 23, 2006
I brought my daughter home from the hospital in a Hotsling and to this day it remains my favorite sling. Now that she is a 26lb toddler I carry her in the hip carry for quick runs into the grocery store or from the car up the three flights to our apartment. Read More...

So you dropped $1,300 on a Bugaboo Chameleon. Did you think that was gonna stop Junior from wailing to be carried instead? Omaha World-Herald - “Stylish, practical cloth baby carriers are a boon to bonding”
Sarah Emmi has one baby, one toddler and nine cloth baby carriers. The Omaha stay-at-home mom favors one carrier for running to the store - it's quick and easy to put on. She favors another when heading out and about for a while. That one takes longer to put on, but it's more comfortable because it wraps around both shoulders and offers more support. Read More...

Dallas Morning News - “Baby Love”

While some parents prefer pushing their infants around in the hottest Bugaboo strollers, others prefer to keep them close to their heart.  You’ll find a host of stylish baby slings priced from $39 to $64 at www.hotslings.com, a Web site started three years ago by a Dallas couple, Mike and Kristen Powers.  The site features slings made of fleece or soft stretch cotton in dozens of colorful op-art patterns.  Shop for them locally at Green Living, 1904 Abrams Parkway, 214-821-8444. – David Ninh

Best of Dallas - Best Way to Mimic a Marsupial: Hotslings
September 29, 2005
“In 2003, Kristen DeRocha developed something no parent (kangaroos excepted) thought was possible. She created a way to securely carry a baby and use both arms for another--or possibly two--tasks. Trial and error at her sewing machine finally produced the first Hotsling, a pouch-like holder for baby using no rings, snaps or fasteners.”

New York Sun - “How To Tote a Tot”
June 6, 2005
Last fall, as the end of my pregnancy fast approached, I became obsessed with baby carriers. [...] My criteria were comfort - an absolute necessity - ease of use, and style. As much as having a baby has brought out my Earth Mother side, I am not prepared to walk the city streets in a Guatemalan-print sling. Read More...
